Torchlight Festival of Camping 2023

The National Event Sub-Committee are looking for Torchlight Stewards to join this year’s crew to support the pitching team when campers arrive on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th August. As a thank you, volunteers will receive a 50% discount on their Torchlight ticket, an invitation to the crew party on Tuesday evening, as well as the option to extend their stay at Walesby Forest for free until Tuesday 22nd August.

Volunteers would be required to arrive at Walesby Forest on Tuesday 15th August so they can be trained ahead of members arriving. They’d then support the pitchers from 10am Thursday morning until 8.30pm Friday evening (with breaks). After this, they will be free to enjoy the festival fun for the rest of the weekend. Details of the entertainment provided at this year event can be found at

If anyone is interested in helping out, please email before 28th April 2023, with their membership number and details of any previous stewarding experience.

It’s at a local pub with plenty of character, The field is flat with good drainage. If you want to come in a tent they will leave the toilets open in the pub all night so we can use there facilities, beer is of average price, e.g. not rip of prices. Its an ideal location to visit Market Drayton which has its own brewery. Newport is a small village with a good assortment of shops, restaurants and pubs. ( 5 min drive away) and if you want to go a little bit further Telford town centre is approx 15 mins away 20 max. Also within local distance you have iron bridge and all the museums if you fancy a day out. There are also plenty of good walks in the area.
